Dear Market Participants, 

EirGrid, SONI and SEMO are currently progressing work on a project known as the Scheduling & Dispatch Project. This was outlined in the Shaping Our Electricity Future Roadmap under Markets Pillar 1 - Electricity markets and power system operational alignment.

The Roadmap noted a plan to develop the detailed design on dispatch and scheduling changes to include:

  • Treatment of non-priority dispatch renewable generation;
  • Enhancements to the dispatch of wind;
  • Updates to the scheduling of batteries;
  • Scheduling of Synchronous Condensers;
  • Fast frequency response capability in scheduling process; and
  • Dispatch and scheduling of reserve services from new providers
Over the previous months, the project team has engaged with industry representatives bilaterally and we are now hosting an Industry Workshop on Wednesday, 16th of November 2022 where we will set out design proposals, taking account of feedback received during the bilateral engagement phase. 

This first workshop will be hybrid with a remote meeting via MS Teams along with an in-person meeting to be held in the Herbert Park Hotel, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. The meeting will commence at 10:30am and end at approximately 15:00.
